Losing Lulu Summit 2026
Announcing that I am a speaker at the upcoming very first Losing Lulu Summit 2026

Losing Lulu is a moderated Facebook group for grief support of Behavioural Euthanasia, or animal companions that died due to their own behaviour problem. I’m one of the modmin team.
It was founded by Sue Alexander (The Dog Trainer’s Crucible and Dogs in the Park) 7 years ago, after her colleague and friend Trish McMillan (McMillan Animal Behaviour) made a behavioural euthanasia choice on a foster dog. The choice attracted a lot of attention, bullying and frankly abuse, and it dawned on Sue that this impossible but sometimes necessary choice needs more support. I joined early, having consulted on this choice with some clients, and joined the moderation team 6 years ago.
It is a difficult subject… to say the least. It is not about convenience. It’s not about a single behaviour problem type or training methods or breed or even species. And while some stories are similar, each & every one is unique and deserves kindness after-the-fact.
That’s what I’ll be speaking about, how we keep it kind in a group of people grieving losses where their grief is complicated by their choice. Where they may have been blamed, shamed and second-guessed for their choices all the way through. Hopefully it will also answer some questions about why the group operates as it does, and why some folks have had membership declined.
Registration for the Summit opens soon, and it’s FREE!
