My dog gets out of my yard!

Actually, I lied, this one isn’t a quick tip.

Every dog and family and yard configuration will have nuances that may need attention. But it is your responsibility to prevent your dog escaping and ensure they are confined and controlled.

Psychology stuff:
– are they bored?
– are they alone & craving attention?
– are they in season or looking for love?
– are they getting enough exercise?

Physical stuff:
– is there stuff near the fences they can climb onto & over the fence?
– are there any spots they can crawl under?
– is the fence high enough?
– are there any footholds in the fence?
– does the gate close properly?
– does the gate open easily with a paw or wind?
– can you safely confine your dog in other ways, such as a run or crate?

It can be a challenging situation but your dog needs you to look out for them and the broader community, not to mention the financial implications if council get involved!

Call me, I can help.
